Black Soldier, White Soldier

Installation 2018

Curator: Ran KasmiSound Editing: Shir Newman

The four-channel audio emanating from the four corners of the room is a recording of drilling for water in Israel’s south.

On this background, seven projectors are showing negative images of a view of Palestinian cities and towns, with big water tanks on many of the roofs, due to a severe water shortage.

The 800-meter-deep drilling had been aimed at the fossil water aquifer in the Negev as a potential solution for Israel’s water shortage, but it was abandoned due to the project’s cost and the well was sealed with a metal mesh.
